# HelpAlive dashboard Home: agent status and plan usage

> What the Home page of the HelpAlive dashboard shows: the agent's state, what needs you, this month against your plan, and the last 7 days.

**Home** is the first page of the HelpAlive dashboard. It tells you in one screen whether the agent is on, what needs your attention, and how much of your plan you have used.

## Home at a glance

* The band at the top says the agent's state in one sentence, with one button.
* **Needs you** lists anything that waits for a person, each with a link.
* **This month against your plan** shows how many assists and chat messages are used and how many your plan includes.
* **What the agent did** shows five figures for the last 7 days, each compared with the 7 days before.
* **Latest activity** lists assists, chats and nudges across your tenants, newest first.

## What the Home page shows

### Your agent's state

The band at the top says the agent's state in one sentence, with one button.

| State | What it says | Button |
| - | - | - |
| No source published | **Off: no docs published.** It can turn on once one source is published on Train. | **Add them on Train** |
| Switched off | **Off, by your switch.** It says how many people would get it, or "Nobody sees it; your analytics keep running." | **Turn on** (opens Controls) |
| On | **On for everyone**, **On for 25% of tenants**, or **On for** the tenants and people in your list. It adds "showing how" when the agent shows the steps rather than doing them. | **Change who gets it** (opens Controls) |
| Off after the trial or plan ended | **Off.** For example "Your free trial has ended, so your users don't see it until you subscribe." If the trial's charge failed, it asks you to update your card instead. | **Subscribe** or **Update card** (opens **Settings → Billing and usage**) |
| Paused for a failed payment | **Paused.** "Your last payment did not go through, so your users don't see it until your card is updated." | **Update card** (opens **Settings → Billing and usage**) |

While the agent is on, the second line says how many sources it answers from and when you last published.

### Needs you

Under the band, **Needs you** lists anything that waits for a person, each with a link: an unfinished Setup step, a failed crawl, a re-crawl waiting for **Publish**, usage nearing your plan, an invite about to expire, or a card problem. You can **Hide** or **Show** the list.

### This month against your plan

Your plan's name and period, and for assists and chat messages: how many are used, how many your plan includes, and a projection once there is enough of the month to go on. Use **Add assists** or **Add chat messages** to buy a pack on **Settings → Billing and usage**.

### Last 7 days: What the agent did

Five figures for the last 7 days, each compared with the 7 days before:

* **People helped** refers to people who started at least one assist.
* **Assists started**
* **Finished** refers to the share of assists started that the agent took to the end.
* **Conversations**
* **Messages** refers to chat messages, as your plan counts them.

**Open in Reports** opens the same figures in **Reports**, where you can pick another period.

### Assists per day and how they ended

A bar a day for the last 7 days, split by how each assist ended.

### Latest activity

Assists, chats and nudges across your tenants, newest first, with a link into **Audience**. A nudge shows what came of it. See [Nudges](/product/nudges).

## Check it works

Once Setup is done and the agent is on, the band reads "On for ..." and **Needs you** has no Setup lines. The figures fill in as people use the agent in your app.

## Troubleshooting

* **The band says "Off: no docs published." although you added sources.** This is because a source counts only once it is published. Press **Publish** in the bar at the top.
* **The figures stay at zero.** Assists count once HelpAlive completes their first step, and chat messages when the agent answers. Tests never count. See [Limits and usage](/dashboard/usage).
