The Agent → Configuration tab is the Agent’s operational dial. It’s where you turn the Agent on or off, control how often individual users can ask questions, and (if needed) wipe its training or remove it entirely. Open your dashboard and go to Agent → Configuration.
Changes on this tab — visibility and rate limits — take effect immediately for your users. They don’t go through the draft / publish flow like Train, Personalization, and Appearance do.

General

The top card is one switch: Agent enabled / disabled.
  • Enabled — the Agent appears in your product for all users who match your visibility rules.
  • Disabled — the launcher button stops appearing. Existing chat sessions end. The Agent is completely hidden until you re-enable it.
Useful when you’re between training cycles, when you’ve spotted a problem and want to take the Agent offline while you fix it, or when you simply don’t want the Agent active yet.

Rate limits

Rate limits stop a single user — or your whole organization — from generating runaway Agent usage in a short window. Two values:
LimitWhat it controlsRange
Per user, per hourThe most messages one user can send to the Agent in one hour.1 — 500
Per organization, per dayThe most messages your whole organization can send in one day.1 — 50,000
If a user hits the per-user limit, the Agent politely tells them to wait. If your organization hits the daily cap, the Agent gracefully pauses for everyone until the next day. Both are immediate — change them and the new values apply on the next message. Most teams leave these on defaults; raise them if you’re scaling up.

Danger zone

The bottom card holds two destructive actions. Both require an extra confirmation step before they run.

Reset training data

Deletes every knowledge source you’ve added. Your URL crawls, file uploads, and pasted text — all gone. Your tone, custom responses, and appearance settings stay in place; only the knowledge base resets. Use this when:
  • You’ve trained on the wrong content and want a clean start.
  • Your docs have changed so much that re-training from scratch is easier than re-crawling each source.
You can’t undo a reset. After it runs, the Agent has nothing to answer from until you add sources back in Agent → Train.

Remove the Agent

The nuclear option. Deletes:
  • All training data.
  • All personalization (custom responses, templates, tone).
  • All appearance settings.
  • The Agent itself — the launcher button disappears for every user.
Your event analytics, your team, your API keys, and the rest of your HelpAlive account stay. Only the Agent is wiped. Use this only when you’re decommissioning the Agent entirely, or when you want to start over completely. You’ll be asked to confirm twice.

Visibility scoping (coming soon)

Today, the Agent is either fully on or fully off. We’re adding the ability to:
  • Turn the Agent on for specific workspaces only.
  • Turn the Agent on for specific user roles or plans.
  • Schedule the Agent on or off by time of day or day of week.
These will live on this tab when they ship.
